The PTV Driver App is a supplementary tool designed to facilitate the calculation of road transport arrival times. Primarily, it functions as a demonstration and testing platform for clients utilizing the PTV Drive&Arrive cloud service. By transmitting the current location of a shipment, the app enables PTV Drive&Arrive to compute precise estimated times of arrival (ETA) and automatically notify all registered stakeholders in the supply chain.

In typical logistical operations, deviations such as traffic congestion can result in significant information gaps, affecting the entire transportation process. Routes and estimated arrival times to recipients or loading facilities often change unexpectedly, making timely communication and rescheduling challenging. Adherence to driving and rest time regulations may introduce further delays, leading to congestion, increased waiting periods at ramps, delivery setbacks, and potential contractual penalties.

To address these issues, accurate real-time information about shipment ETA at handover points or final delivery destinations is essential. The PTV Drive&Arrive solution offers this capability by continuously updating arrival predictions based on current conditions. It considers factors like traffic flow, route closures, driver working and resting periods, border crossing delays, and specific vehicle parameters. This dynamic calculation ensures stakeholders are equipped with reliable estimates, enabling more responsive logistics management.

The system relies on drivers’ automatic position updates via the PTV Drive&Arrive Driver App (available here), providing the critical data necessary for precise ETA calculations. These updates help stakeholders react proactively to potential delays or changes in circumstances.

Shipment positions are anonymized during operation and solely used for calculation purposes; they are neither tracked nor publicly disclosed.
